Where to Stay Inside Glacier National Park
The historic lodges, motor inns, and cabins actually inside the park — no commute, unbeatable morning access, and the most sought-after beds in Montana. Updated for 2026.
Deciding where to stay inside Glacier National Park comes down to two things: which side of the park you’ll spend the most time on, and how far ahead you can book. Below are all seven in-park lodges — the historic hotels, motor inns, and cabins run by the park’s own concessioners — grouped by area, with an honest pick for every budget.
Prefer a different base? Gateway-town hotels have more options and value; cabins get you a kitchen and space.
Gateway Hotels → Cabins →Book 12–13 months out — seriously
In-park lodges (especially Many Glacier Hotel and Lake McDonald Lodge) sell out almost the moment their booking window opens. Reserve through Glacier National Park Lodges (855-733-4522) as far ahead as you can. Expect historic quirks: thin walls, no A/C, and limited or no Wi-Fi and cell service.

Which in-park lodge should you pick?
- Best overall location: Many Glacier Hotel — right at the best trailheads and the most beautiful lake in the park.
- Best for a first visit / west side: Lake McDonald Lodge — historic, central, easy Sun Road access.
- Best value inside the park: Rising Sun (east) or Motel Lake McDonald (west).
- Splitting a 5-day trip? Two nights west (Lake McDonald) + two to three nights east (Many Glacier or Rising Sun) so you never re-drive the pass.
